Our tax department is growing and we are looking for a Tax Senior – Indirect Tax/VAT to join us:

Tasks & responsibilities:

As a Senior in the GDS Indirect Tax Center, you will be focused on preparation of projects/services in the domain of Indirect Tax/VAT. Your main responsibilities as are:

Act as single point of contact towards our client’s tax manager or director in APAC and report to the responsible senior manager/director/partner in EY
Lead and coach the central client serving team and manage the relationship with our other teams/offices involved supporting this client
Set-up and drive standard processes and monitor global metrics
Oversee day-to-day operations, manage financials and coordinate services
Review progress of operational and continuous improvement targets.
Review end-to-end process improvement suggestions; integrate and track agreed-upon process changes
Report service performance and escalation status; develop corrective action plans
Conduct monthly update calls and meetings
Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve the indirect tax compliance processes
Propose improvement possibilities to raise effectiveness and efficiency of the work processes

In addition, you will be expected to work on the following strategic initiatives:

Process: standardization, centralization, design new services, legislative updates
Technology: automation, data analytics, dashboarding
People: training program, career development, recruitment
Go to market: position new services, marketing of existing services

We are looking for candidates with the following background & basic Skills:

Graduate of a 4-year course preferably in Commerce, Business, Accounting
Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in APAC indirect tax compliance; either in industries or other service providers
Overall 4 to 5 years work experience, preferably in Accounting/Tax/Project Management / Operations
Basic understanding of other compliance activities such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance
Dynamic, innovative & problem resolution focus with excellent communication skills
Good computer knowledge (MS Excel); tech-savvy to learn EY technology solutions
Team player with project management capabilities
Aggressive, enthusiastic, with great organizational and coordination skills
Highly driven, pro-active, self-motivating, and independent worker
Ability to plan and prioritize work, with keen eye for detail
Excellent communication across cultures and within a virtual working environment
Strong people skills, ability to work with new contacts in working with multi-country clients
Expectation to respond quickly to issues
Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve the VAT compliance processes
Coordinate VAT compliance advisory, technology and audit support
Supervise and coach junior team members
Actively participate to the training and coaching session in your development plan to ensure continuous development of your technical knowledge
