Organisation: Optimus Capital
Location: Hyderabad
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Team: Accounting & Finance Team report to this role
Qualification: Chartered Accountant (ICAI)
Experience: Minimum 5 years
Employment: Full-time
PURPOSE
This role runs the finance work behind the family office portfolio: management information, budgets and forecasts, investment accounting, and finalization of accounts.
It is a working manager’s job. The person does the investment tracking and the review of accounts, and leads the Team who support that work.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
MIS, budgeting and forecasting:
– Prepare MIS for management, on a regular cycle and for specific questions.
– Build the budget, keep the assumptions clear, and update it through the year.
– Prepare forecasts and explain what moved against the budget and the previous forecast.
Investments:
– Handle investment accounting: recording, classification and reconciliation of the portfolio.
– Analyse the portfolio and track each investment – cost, value, income, charges and where it stands.
– Track returns and prepare the day-to-day investment report for management.
– Overview PPMs, Agreements and other contracts and oversee the charges charged and necessary monitoring.
Accounts:
– Oversee finalization of accounts and review the figures before they are closed.
– Find mistakes, wrong classifications and incomplete entries, and get them corrected.
– Set an action plan for the accounts team – the issue, the owner and the date – and see it through.
Team:
– Lead the Chartered Accountants who report to this role. Set the work, review it, and keep the standard of the close and the investment records.
Required:
– Chartered Accountant, member of ICAI.
– At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.
– Has prepared MIS, budgets and forecasts, not only contributed a schedule.
– Has done investment accounting and can track a portfolio and its returns.
– Has reviewed accounts at close and is used to finding and fixing errors.
– Can lead a small team of qualified accountants.
– Strong in Excel, and comfortable in an accounting system.
Useful:
– Time in a family office, fund, wealth or asset manager, NBFC, or a group that runs its own investment book.
– Multi-entity closes.
– Clear writing. A short note should say what the number is, what is off, and what happens next.
How the person works:
– Careful with figures, and direct when something does not add up.
– Able to hold a daily investment report and a period close at the same time.
– Discreet with the family’s and the office’s investment information.
