Controllership seeks a Finance Manager to own working capital forecasting, lead financial activities and ensure financial statements are correct in Amazon’s India Operations. Team Exposure:
This role partners across finance, accounting, fulfilment, supply chain, and technology teams to improve efficiencies while improving customer experience globally. This role works with business accounting managers, data engineers, finance leadership, program and product managers. This role creates a ā€œlearn by doingā€ environment by engaging with business and technology to promote and encourage continued customer focus. You will anticipate and resolve bottlenecks while balancing business needs and escalating where appropriate.

Success in this role:
The successful candidate has demonstrated the following abilities: ability to develop insights, understand numbers and deep dive in depth, prepare complex financial models, prepare commentary for senior leadership, collaborate with multiple stakeholders across geographies and have excellent communication skills. This role will work in a dynamic environment working with some of the world’s largest data sets. As such, the finance manager must combine excellent business analysis skills with the ability to derive actionable cost measures for consumption across Amazon.

Key job responsibilities
– Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
– Deliver weekly/monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced MSExcel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans, forecasts, budgets, and consolidations.
– Drive continuous improvement and standardization of processes, including implementation of best practices in the FP&A area
– Support financial reporting and operating planning, demonstrating finance acumen and ability to quickly adopt to different business needs
– Prepare concise documents, tailored to various levels of stakeholders, and collaborating with operationsā€™ leaders and other teams
– Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
– Collect and analyze quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cash flow optimization.
– Participate in hiring, developing, and mentoring peers and team members. Seek and leverage diverse perspectives in all activities.
– Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves, scales, or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.

A day in the life
The finance manager blends advanced reporting, critical thinking and project management skills while understanding and further developing financial applications. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to resolve ambiguous problems, own FP&A deliverables, work with tech partners to resolve technical issues and ensure successful automation launch for month end close and planning processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 6+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
– Experience communicating results to senior leadership
– Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
– Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving
– Bachelors in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
– Good communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Knowledge of statistical modeling
– Knowledge of SQL/ETL
– Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
– Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects
– MBA and/or Professional certifications (CPA/CMA/CA/Qualified Accounting certificate)
– Highly analytical, detail oriented and a demonstrated sense of business management; ability to develop new ideas and ability to deliver solutions
– Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment; effective multi-tasking skills are vital
