Chief Financial Officer

Location: Mumbai | Reports to: Founders | Consumer Health & Nutrition | 15+ years

About the client:

Our client is one of India’s fastest-growing consumer health and nutrition companies, built by its Founders into a ~₹500 Cr business with brands that consumers know and trust across online and offline channels. The ambition now is to double the business to ₹1,000 Cr in the next two to three years, with new launches, new categories and a sharper commercial engine.

The company sits at an important inflection point. The Founders are stepping into full-time operating roles, and the business is ready for a finance leader who can build the controls, systems and discipline needed for the next phase, without slowing down the speed that got it here.

Role overview:

The CFO will own the finance function end to end and act as a true thought partner to the Founders: shaping strategy, challenging and backing business plans, and building a finance function that can scale to ₹1,000 Cr. The role calls for a leader who understands the commercial engine of a consumer business, can connect finance to growth outcomes, and is equally comfortable in the boardroom and in the detail.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Partnership with the Founders:

– Act as a trusted advisor to the Founders on growth, capital allocation and key business decisions.

– Bring financial discipline and sound judgement to evolving plans and new business initiatives.

– Support corporate finance activity, including potential acquisitions, strategic transactions and long-term IPO preparedness.

2. Business Finance & Commercial Partnering:

– Partner with CBOs and category heads to evaluate new launches, business plans and channel economics.

– Drive accountability and ROI on marketing spends, one of the business’s largest levers.

– Influence commercial decisions with clear, timely insight on margins, pricing and unit economics.

3. Planning, Budgeting & Performance Management:

– Lead the annual operating plan, budgeting and rolling forecasts across brands and channels.

– Build MIS and performance dashboards that give the Founders and leadership a real-time view of the business.

– Track performance against plan and flag risks and opportunities early.

4. Controllership, Governance & Working Capital:

– Own accounts, controllership, statutory compliance, audit and tax across all entities and locations.

– Strengthen internal controls and processes to match the scale and ambition of the business.

– Drive working capital efficiency, collections and cash flow management.

– Maintain strong financial discipline in client and partner relationships.

5. Finance Transformation & Technology:

– Lead the finance technology roadmap, including the evaluation of an upgrade from SAP Business One to SAP S/4HANA.

– Drive automation, analytics and AI-led finance processes, working closely with senior technology stakeholders.

– Build a data-driven finance function that scales without proportionate headcount growth.

6. Team Leadership:

– Lead and develop a finance and accounts team of ~23 people.

– Build a high-performance culture and the next layer of finance leadership.

– Work comfortably with diverse personalities and across age groups.

Ideal Profile:

Qualifications & Experience:

– CA and/or MBA (Finance).

– 15+ years of progressive finance experience, with a senior finance leadership role in a professionally managed, high-growth business.

– Proven track record of raising institutional equity and debt, with strong investor relations experience.

– Good to have: IPO, M&A or strategy experience; SAP S/4HANA exposure; Big 4 grounding.

Sector Background:

– Consumer, FMCG, D2C, retail or other fast-moving, high-growth businesses preferred.

– Exposure to logistics or distribution-heavy operations is an advantage.

– Experience of having grown with a business through a phase of rapid scale-up.

Key Competencies:

– Unquestionable integrity and strong personal values.

– Strong business partnering and commercial judgement; genuinely curious about the business beyond finance.

– High ownership and comfort with ambiguity; hands-on and does not shy away from difficult situations.

– Solution-oriented mindset with the agility to support new launches and shifting priorities.

– Ability to connect with and influence a young, Gen Z leadership team.

– Analytical and technology-oriented, with a track record of finance transformation.
