Job Description:
Lead Finance Controller (Mining only)
Company: Sterling Oil & Gas
Location: Nigeria
Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA)
Experience: 12 – 20 Years
Age: 35 – 45 Years
Industry Preference: Mining Industry Only (Mandatory) – minimum annual turnover of 3,000 Cr with minimum 5 – year experience in mining
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Business Control:
– Lead the overall finance and controllership function for mining operations.
– Drive annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
– Monitor business performance against budgets and provide strategic recommendations.
– Conduct detailed financial analysis and support business decision-making.
CAPEX & OPEX Management:
– Develop and control annual CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
– Monitor project expenditures and operational costs to ensure financial efficiency.
– Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability across operations.
– Review investment proposals and provide commercial and financial evaluation.
Treasury & Fund Management:
– Manage fund arrangement, treasury operations, and banking relationships.
– Ensure optimum fund allocation and utilization across mining projects.
– Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
– Support management in raising and managing project and operational funding.
Systems & Reporting Skills:
– Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
– Strong working knowledge of Power BI.
– Expertise in dashboard creation, financial analytics, and business reporting.
– Ability to convert complex financial data into actionable business insights.
Governance, Compliance & Controls:
– Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory regulations, and internal policies.
– Drive strong internal controls and risk management practices.
– Lead internal and external audits.
– Ensure adherence to corporate governance frameworks.
Team Leadership:
– Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of 10 – 15+ members.
– Build a high-performance finance organization focused on operational excellence.
– Drive team capability development and succession planning.
– Collaborate effectively with business heads, plant leadership, and senior management.
